The next day was a Saturday and the unit had ordered a ceremonial 'kit layout' by all trainees in their billets. On the ceremonial kit layout, all airmen were to keep all items supplied by the Air Force to them, on their bed, in a predetermined fashion. Every item has a specified place on the bed and that was for uniformity of display and easy identification of completeness of items displayed. Special care was taken by all inmates to keep the surroundings and indoor spick and span with no spillage of any unwanted items anywhere inside the billet, other than the items supplied to them. The preparations for such kit layout used to be of great concern by all trainees and took pride to get encouraging comments from the inspecting officers to the billets on that day.

Wing Commander Krishnan accompanied by the Unit Admin Officer and the Unit Warrant Officer went around the billets and noted down the deficiencies or noticeable points for corrective measures, from one to the other. He paid interest to find out the health of the toilets and the Unit Admin Officer was given then and there, his decisions on the works to be carried out within the next fortnight so that the trainees should not be subjected to any inconveniences. He used to say that his billet inspection was not to find out the faults of trainees but to find the deficiencies in their conveniences. Because of that attitude of the commanding officer, the trainees had been getting the best possible service from all fronts.

When his mobile sounded, Krishnan took out that from the pocket and looked at the display. That was from Mukhesh, his uncle. He moved slightly away from others to one side and took the call and spoke.

“Yes, uncle.”

“Krishnan, have you seen today's Deccan Herald newspaper?”

“No.”

“There is interesting news in that. Kishor had installed one closed-circuit TV in his factory and in that the image of the person who had gone there at night eleven had been recorded. The front side of the man was not available. The image is printed on paper. As per the report, they have got clues about the criminal and the investigations are progressing. It seems the gatekeeper was employed in front of the factory during the working hours only. Hence, at the time of this person’s entry to the premises, the gatekeeper was not available.” Mukhesh sounded quite jubilant, as the investigations made by the police were about to be closed, he could be free to go back to his organic farming business.

“That is positive news.” Krishnan smiled.

“Will you be free to come now?”

“No uncle. I am a bit busy now. I will come after my office hours. Any urgency?”

“I thought we will go and find out from the police if I can leave this place.”

“Then uncle, why don’t you go yourself and find out?”

With hesitation, Mukhesh said. “I can’t drive. You know that I have some problems with my right knee. It pains badly.”

“Uncle, we will go in the afternoon.
